As I write this today, the sun (which has been plenty elusive in recent weeks) has finally decided to make an appearance. And I LIKE it! As the days continue to shorten, a little “sparkley”, whether outside my window or on my computer’s screen, sure won’t hurt. I hope this helps you sparkle and smile, too!

My monthly desktop wallpaper & calendar offers you a pretty seasonal picture to brighten your computer monitor. But that’s not all. It also includes a handy monthly calendar and serves as a cheat-sheet reference to PDF’s and websites you may want to know about and access. And it’s even FREE to download, so please don’t hesitate to share this page with your friends and family.

How to download & install your December 2020 Wallpaper/Calendar

Note: You’ll probably want to consult your own computer operating system’s installation instructions, but installing the background image on my Windows 10 system takes just 3 quick steps – and less than a minute. It’s super-duper easy-peasy!

1. Start by left-clicking right here and this month’s image should pop up or open in a new tab. Then right-click on the image and save it to your hard drive.
2. Once the file has been downloaded, named, and saved, click on your saved image to open it.
3. Once open, right-click on the image and select “Set as” > “Set as Background”….. then right-click again and select “Set as” > “Set as Lock screen”. And poof! That’s all there is to it! (For convenience, I recommend you install this on both your desktop system and your laptop. Assuming you still have such things these days, of course!)

Finally, please keep in mind that the format of my monthly picture is designed for most modern-day 16:9 monitors (a common format for monitors and HD TV’s since about 2009), oriented in landscape format. (Typically 1920 x 1080 pixels.) If you’re working with an older monitor (and/or one that is more square-ish in format), or your monitor is set up in portrait format or some other variation, the picture may not work for you.

Wow. 2020 is actually starting to wind down. I know a lot of us are anxious to bid it farewell, although personally, somehow I am feeling a bit cheated out of a year. Nevertheless, Thanksgiving is coming, and for that, I’m looking forward… in the hopes I’ll be able to gather with a small group of family and participate. I hope you will be able to do so as well.

Hurray! Your July 2020 Wallpaper/Calendar is here!

So. I began the search for this month’s wallpaper image knowing exactly what I was looking for: something summery in red, white, and blue, but without particularly screaming flags, fireworks, hotdogs, and that kind of stuff. But alas, options seemed slim in that department. While I found a few images by that definition, the composition and photography wasn’t really that great… and therefore nothing was the “right” thing with respect to what I was looking for.

But eventually, eyes crossed and nearly falling asleep, I stumbled upon this red bicycle with its basket of red geraniums. In general, the picture enchanted me immediately, but it still needed (what turned out to be) several hours of Photoshopping. (Side note: I am NOT a Photoshop expert, by any stretch of the imagination!)

But I’m certainly familiar with searching the ‘net for things I need to know or understand. So the final result, while not at all professional nor even exactly what I envisioned, is this. “Good enough”, I figure, for something destined for only a short-term life span. I hope you enjoy this quaint summertime wallpaper, too!

It’s almost strawberry time in the Northwest! And I check on the progress of my 4 planters full of strawberries nearly every day. This year I added a 4th variety to the three I started last year; giving me 2 varieties of June-bearing and 2 of Ever-bearing. All 3 sets of year-old plants have bloomed heavily this year, and my earliest berry harvest should be ready for sampling within the next couple of weeks. I prefer to pick them in the afternoon when they’re nicely warmed by the sun, and at their juiciest and most flavorful. And of course I eat them immediately while they’re still warm.

Ever since I was a young girl I have adored the splashy color and intoxicating fragrance of lilacs that burst into armloads of splendor each May. In fact, when I was around 12 or 13 my parents permitted me to decorate my bedroom for the first time. And guess what I chose as my color palette?!? Yep! All the amazing colors that lilacs showcase so boldly! And even to this day, the colors of the lilac spectrum remain among my favorites. Is it any wonder that communities all across the country, including Spokane, just across the state line from me, choose the exuberant lilac as the centerpiece of their annual May festivities?

“Painted Poppies” Valentine Cards

Today I’ve got some serious monochromatic pink for you, in the form of “Painted Poppies” Valentine Cards. ‘Cuz what says “Happy Valentine’s Day” better than hearts and flowers, right?

Both of these cards feature Melon Mambo and Whisper White, along with some of what I consider the most basic dies that we should probably all have in our collections. And, of course, my current favorite stamp set, “Painted Poppies”.

Can you find all the places I've used "Painted Poppies"?

This card features not only the Painted Poppies Bundle (stamp set + dies) along with the Stitched Be Mine and Stitched Nested Labels dies, but also the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder, from the Spring (January – June) 2020 Catalog.

And this card is basically the same, except the Whisper White and Melon Mambo of the large heart are reversed, and the inner heart is then stamped with an additional image from the “Painted Poppies” stamp set.

And along with that, maybe even some hope in your heart that spring might actually arrive eventually! For me? I just wanna see something other than gray skies. Apparently our area just claimed second-place for the gloomiest January on record. Now, of all the records one wants to break… right?!? So I’m starving for some color (of which pink is one of my faves), and some flowers, and I sure wouldn’t mind seeing some blue one of these days, either… provided it was up in the sky!
